🍁 Fall is taking shape at Bryce Glass Art

September 2026

Back by Request 🍁

This fall leaf is making a return—not because I put it back on the schedule, but because a few of my regular glass makers remembered it from last year and wanted their chance to make one.

And that got me thinking: you can ask, too.

If you’ve seen a Bryce Glass Art project you’d love to make—or have an idea for something you’d like to try—let me know. If there’s enough interest, an old favorite (or something new) just might show up as a future pop-up workshop.

Sometimes the next class starts with someone simply saying, “Could we make that?”

Join me at the Oxford Art & Wine Stroll!

3D Pumpkin Demonstration: 1:30 p.m.

I’ll be out of the studio and in downtown Oxford on Saturday, September 12, for the Art Stroll, a collaboration between Whimsy and the Oxford Downtown Development Authority.

Stop by to see some of my stained glass work, learn more about upcoming workshops, and see stained glass being made.

At 1:30 p.m., I’ll be demonstrating how I construct one of my 3D stained-glass pumpkins, from individual glass pieces to a finished, dimensional project.

If you’ve wondered what happens in one of my workshops, this is a great chance to come watch!

💡 Glass 101

Same Pattern. Different Glass.

One of the things I love about stained glass is that the pattern is only the beginning.

These two pumpkins were made from the exact same pattern, but choosing different glass gives each one a completely different personality. The traditional orange glass brings warmth and variation, while the white glass creates a cleaner, softer look.

When choosing glass for a project, I’m looking at more than color. Transparency, texture, movement, and even how the glass catches the light can change the finished piece.

That means two people can start with the same pattern—and create something that feels entirely their own.

Interested in a Pumpkin Pop-Up? 🎃

My October 12 Pumpkin workshop is nearly full, with just one seat remaining. So I’m considering adding another date!

If you’d like to make your own 3D stained glass pumpkin, let me know. If there’s enough interest, I’ll add a Pumpkin Pop-Up and give newsletter subscribers the first opportunity to grab a spot.

And because you’re on this list, you’ll also have a few more choices. In addition to traditional orange, I’m offering some special glass options—including white and multicolored—while supplies last.

🌱 What's Taking Shape in the Studio?

Stained Glass earrings are here!

I recently beta-tested my stained glass earring process with a small group of students. This is some of the behind-the-scenes work that goes into developing a new class—I test, refine, and make adjustments before a project is ready for the classroom.

Earrings also require lead-free solder, which behaves a little differently from the solder we normally use in class. I discovered that it works just fine for creating the earring itself, but attaching the finding can get a little tricky.

My solution? Students can give that final step a try—and if they'd rather have a little help, I'm happy to attach the finding for them.

And now they're ready! The first earring workshop is coming up at Whimsy on September 22. Choose your glass and make a pair for yourself—or get an early start on a handmade gift.

I’m also considering adding an earring pop-up here at Bryce Glass Art, so stay tuned for another opportunity!

Want to Make Something Else?

Not every class has to start with something I put on the schedule.

If you’ve seen a Bryce Glass Art project you’d like to make—or have an idea for something different—send me a request. If there’s enough interest, it could become a future pop-up workshop.

Have a few friends who want to create together? I also offer private group workshops. Gather your group, and we can work together to choose a project and find a date that works.

Sometimes the next class starts with someone simply asking, “Could we make that?”

See something you’d like to make? Grab a class, request a project, or gather your own group—and come make some glass with me.

Until next time...
